Overview
Areas men most commonly treat
The back and shoulders are the most common areas men book, followed by the chest, stomach and the back of the neck. Back hair tends to be dense and coarse, which usually means it responds well to laser because there is plenty of pigment for the light to target. Many men treat the full back and shoulders together so the result is even.
Beard shaping is the other big request. Rather than removing the beard, laser is used on the cheeks above the beard and the neck below it, so your line holds its shape for longer. We take a conservative approach here, because it is always possible to treat more later, while hair that has been reduced cannot simply be put back. The nape of the neck is also popular for keeping a clean haircut line between barber visits.
The areas here are typical rather than a fixed list. Our live treatment menu is in our Timely booking system, and you can call us if you want an area that is not shown.
- Back and shoulders: the most requested areas for men
- Chest and stomach: full clearance or reduction and thinning
- Beard line: cheeks and neck, shaped conservatively
- Nape of neck: a cleaner haircut line
Treatment benefits
Why clients choose men’s laser with us
- 01
Back and shoulders you can’t reach
Back and shoulder hair is hard to manage yourself. Laser gives you a way to reduce it without relying on someone else with a razor or regular waxing.
- 02
A cleaner beard line
Treating the cheeks and neck below the beard helps define your shape, so the line stays sharp for longer between trims and there is less shaving rash.
- 03
Fewer ingrowns on the neck
Men who shave daily often get ingrown hairs and bumps on the neck. As regrowth reduces, many find the skin calmer and shaving less of a chore.
- 04
Evening and weekend sessions
Open 7 days until 9pm, the clinic fits around shift work, trade hours and training, so you can keep to your session schedule.
How it works
What happens at your appointment

Talk through your goals
Tell us whether you want hair reduced, thinned or cleared, and where your beard line should sit. Many men want less, not none, and we plan around that.
Assessment and patch test
We check your health, medication, skin tone and hair, and usually patch test first, particularly on coarse, dense areas like the back and chest.
Shave before you come in
Shave the area, usually the day before. For the back and shoulders, ask someone to help or let us know when booking so we can advise.
Treatment and follow-up
Large areas are treated in sections with settings suited to dense hair. You then return at the interval your specialist recommends to catch the next growth cycle.

Why men’s treatment is planned differently
Men’s hair is usually thicker, darker and denser than women’s on the same area, and male hormones keep follicles active. That combination often means men respond well to laser but may need more sessions, and some areas, such as the chest and back, can see new growth develop over the years. Occasional maintenance sessions are common.
Coarse hair also absorbs more energy, so sessions on dense areas can feel more intense to begin with. Most people describe a quick snap or warm flick, and it often feels easier as the hair thins out over the course. Our laser hair removal for men guide goes further into realistic expectations, and how many sessions you might need covers the general ranges.
Training, sport and aftercare
Heat and sweat can irritate freshly treated skin, so plan your gym sessions around your appointment. Skip hard training, saunas and hot showers for a day or so afterwards, and keep treated areas covered from the sun, particularly the back and shoulders if you swim or work outdoors.
Between sessions, shave rather than wax or pluck. If you surf, play outdoor sport or work in the sun, let us know, because a recent tan can change the settings we can safely use. The full list is in our before and aftercare guide.

Our technology
Advanced Candela laser technology
Laser hair removal works by targeting the pigment in the hair. Light is absorbed by the follicle and converted to heat, which slows future growth. The right device and the right settings are what make treatment effective and comfortable.
01Precision
Laser energy is delivered to the hair follicle in controlled pulses, working area by area.
02Personalised settings
Settings are chosen for your skin tone, hair colour and hair thickness, then reviewed each session.
03Professional technology
We treat with Candela laser technology, from one of the long-established manufacturers of aesthetic lasers.

FAQ
Men’s laser questions
Can laser thin my chest hair instead of removing it?
Yes, many men ask for reduction rather than full clearance. We can plan fewer sessions or adjust the approach to thin the hair out. Results vary, so we review progress with you as the course goes on.
Can you shape my beard with laser?
Yes, laser is commonly used on the cheeks and neck to define a beard line. We take a conservative approach, because you can always treat more later but reduced hair does not simply grow back on demand. Bring a photo of the line you want.
Is laser on the back painful for men?
Most men describe a quick snap or warm flick, and dense, coarse back hair can feel more intense in early sessions. Comfort usually improves as the hair thins. We check in with you throughout the treatment.
Do men need more laser sessions than women?
Men often need more sessions, because male hair tends to be denser and hormones keep follicles active. As a general industry range, many people need somewhere around 6 to 10 sessions, and some men need more. Your specialist will recommend a plan for you.
Can I go to the gym after laser hair removal?
It is best to skip intense exercise, saunas and hot showers for a day or so after treatment. Heat and sweat can irritate freshly treated skin. Light activity is usually fine.
What if I can’t shave my own back before treatment?
Ask a partner or friend to help, or mention it when you book so we can advise. The area needs to be shaved for the laser to work properly and comfortably. Do not wax it beforehand.
