Facial laser hair removal treats unwanted hair on the upper lip, chin, jawline, sides of the face and neck. At Anytime Laser & Beauty we use Candela laser technology with settings chosen for facial skin, which is often more sensitive than the body. Overview

Why facial skin needs a careful approach

Facial skin needs a more careful approach because it is thinner, more exposed to the sun and often under a daily routine of active skincare. Retinoids, exfoliating acids and recent peels can all make the skin more reactive to laser, so we ask about your routine at consultation and may ask you to pause certain products before treatment.

Sun exposure matters more on the face than almost anywhere else. A recent tan or sunburn can change the settings we can safely use, and treated skin should be protected with sunscreen afterwards. If you have sensitive skin, a history of pigmentation or conditions such as rosacea, tell us before you start so we can decide together whether laser is appropriate. Our before and aftercare guide sets out what to avoid and when.

Treatment benefits

Why clients choose facial laser with us

  1. 01

    Less daily tweezing

Coarse chin and jawline hairs often mean daily tweezing. As laser reduces regrowth, many people find they reach for the tweezers far less often.

  2. 02

    Smoother make-up base

Fewer visible hairs on the upper lip and sides of the face can help make-up sit more smoothly, without the regrowth that comes with waxing or threading.

  3. 03

    Settings for delicate skin

Facial skin is thinner and more reactive than most body areas, so settings are chosen conservatively and adjusted as we see how your skin responds.

  4. 04

    Quick appointments

Small areas like the upper lip and chin are among the quicker laser treatments, which makes them easy to fit into a lunch break or evening.

How it works

What happens at your appointment

Treatment consultation between a practitioner and a client
  1. Step 01

    Face-focused consultation

We ask about your skincare, any active ingredients such as retinoids, recent facials or peels, and any hormonal changes in your hair growth.

  2. Step 02

    Patch test

A patch test is usually done on the face first, since facial skin can react differently from the body. We check the result before a full treatment.

  3. Step 03

    Arrive with clean skin

Shave the area, usually the day before, and come without make-up on the treatment area. Stop tweezing, waxing and threading in the weeks before.

  4. Step 04

    Treatment and gentle aftercare

Eye protection is worn during treatment. Afterwards, skip make-up, exfoliants and active skincare on the area for a short time and use sun protection.

What to expect

Hormonal hair growth, including PCOS

Hormones are a common driver of facial hair, particularly coarse hair on the chin, jawline and neck. Conditions such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), along with changes around pregnancy and menopause, can all increase facial hair growth. Laser can reduce existing hair for many people, but it does not change the hormones behind it, so new hairs may appear over time.

If your facial hair has increased or changed recently, please speak with your GP as well as with us. Understanding the cause helps you make decisions about your health, and it helps set realistic expectations for laser. People with hormonally driven growth often need more sessions and occasional maintenance, and results vary.

Facial laser for men

Men mostly use facial laser to define the beard, treating the cheeks above the beard line and the neck below it. It can also help men who get ingrown hairs and shaving bumps on the neck. We shape beard lines conservatively, because hair that has been reduced cannot simply be brought back if you change your style.

For a broader look at how men’s treatments are planned, see laser hair removal for men. If you want facial and body areas treated together, laser hair removal in Liverpool explains how we plan combined treatment.

Our technology

Advanced Candela laser technology

Laser hair removal works by targeting the pigment in the hair. Light is absorbed by the follicle and converted to heat, which slows future growth. The right device and the right settings are what make treatment effective and comfortable.

  • 01Precision

Laser energy is delivered to the hair follicle in controlled pulses, working area by area.

  • 02Personalised settings

Settings are chosen for your skin tone, hair colour and hair thickness, then reviewed each session.

  • 03Professional technology

We treat with Candela laser technology, from one of the long-established manufacturers of aesthetic lasers.

FAQ

Facial laser questions

Questions before you book?

Call or text the clinic, 7 days until 9pm.

Does laser work on fine facial hair?

Laser works best on darker, coarser hair. Fine, light facial hair (often called peach fuzz) usually responds poorly because it has little pigment. For that kind of hair, dermaplaning may be a better option.

Can I have facial laser if I have PCOS?

Many people with PCOS have laser to reduce facial hair, but hormones can keep producing new hair, so results vary and maintenance sessions are common. Please speak with your GP about your condition as well. We will talk through realistic expectations at consultation.

Can I wear make-up after facial laser?

It is best to avoid make-up on the treated area for a short time afterwards, usually until any redness settles. We will give you specific timing on the day. Use sunscreen on treated skin when you go outside.

Does upper lip laser hurt?

The upper lip is often one of the more sensitive areas, and most people describe a quick snap or warm flick. It is a small area, so the treatment itself is short. Comfort varies from person to person.

Should I stop my skincare before facial laser?

You may need to pause retinoids, exfoliating acids and other active products for a period before and after treatment. Tell us everything you use at consultation. We will advise what to pause and for how long.

Can laser shape my eyebrows?

Laser is generally not used on the brows themselves, because they sit so close to the eyes. If you want more defined brows, the clinic also offers henna brows. Ask us at booking about the options.
