LED Light Therapy in Liverpool
LED light therapy is a non-invasive skin treatment that exposes the skin to specific colours of visible light, most often red and blue. It is gentle, does not use UV light and involves no heat or downtime for most people. Many people use it to help their skin look clearer, calmer and more even, although research into LED is ongoing.

Overview
What LED light therapy is
LED light therapy uses light-emitting diodes to deliver specific wavelengths of visible light to the skin. Different colours are used for different purposes: red light is commonly used for skin that looks tired or dull, while blue light is often used for oily or blemish-prone skin. Unlike a solarium or sunlight, LED devices used for skin treatment do not use UV light.
Research into LED light therapy is ongoing, and results vary from person to person. Some studies suggest benefits for skin appearance, but it is best viewed as a gentle, supportive treatment rather than a fix for any skin condition. Many people notice their skin looks calmer and more even over a series of sessions. Our article on what LED light therapy is explains the background in more depth.
Treatment benefits
Why clients choose LED light therapy with us
- 01
Relaxing and gentle
You simply lie back under the light. There is no heat, no touching of the skin and no discomfort for most people.
- 02
No downtime
Most people have no visible redness, so you can go straight back to work or out for the evening.
- 03
Pairs well with facials
LED is often added after a facial or exfoliation treatment to finish the appointment with a calming step.
- 04
Easy to repeat
Because it is gentle, LED is commonly booked as a series, and evening and weekend appointments make regular visits easier.
How it works
What happens at your appointment

Skin and health check
We ask about your skin, medication and any light sensitivity, and check that LED is suitable for you before starting.
Cleanse
Your skin is cleansed so the light reaches clean skin without make-up or product in the way.
Light exposure
You lie back with eye protection while the LED panel is positioned over your face. You will see the light and may feel nothing at all.
Finish
The treatment is finished with moisturiser and, for daytime appointments, sun protection.
What to expect
Using LED as part of a skin routine
LED is often most useful as part of a wider routine rather than on its own. It can be booked after a Deluxe Deep Cleanse Facial or microdermabrasion to finish with a calming step, or as a short standalone session between facials. Because it is so gentle, it suits people who want to do something for their skin without any downtime.
Consistency matters more than intensity. People who see changes in how their skin looks usually come in regularly over a period of weeks. We can suggest a realistic plan based on your skin and schedule, and we will be honest about what LED can and cannot do.
Safety and who should check first
LED is gentle, but it is not right for everyone. Some medications make skin more sensitive to light, and people with conditions that are triggered by light, such as light-sensitive epilepsy, should get medical advice before booking. Eye protection is worn during treatment.
If you have a skin condition such as acne or rosacea, LED can be part of your routine, but it is not a medical treatment. Please speak with your GP or dermatologist about ongoing concerns, and tell us about any treatment they have prescribed.

FAQ
LED light therapy questions
Does LED light therapy use UV light?
No, LED light therapy for skin uses visible light, not UV. It does not tan the skin. You should still wear sunscreen day to day.
Does LED light therapy hurt?
No, most people feel nothing at all, or just a slight sense of warmth. There is no contact with the skin. Eye protection is worn because the light is bright.
Does LED light therapy work?
Research into LED is ongoing, and results vary from person to person. Some people notice their skin looks clearer or calmer over a series of sessions. We see it as a gentle, supportive treatment rather than a cure for any skin condition.
How many LED sessions will I need?
LED is usually booked as a series rather than a one-off, because any change in how skin looks builds over time. The right number depends on your skin and goals. We will suggest a plan at your first visit.
Can I combine LED with a facial?
Yes, LED is often added after a facial, microdermabrasion or Dermasound to finish the treatment. We can recommend a combination for your skin. Just mention it when you book.
